Steve Jobs clearly thinks the HTML5 is the new future standard on Web development, and Apple is one of the largest brand that supports it. That is why Apple released a HTML5 showcase displaying the capability of HTML5 without other additional plugins. The HTML5 showcase from Apple show us some reason, why Flash no longer necessary.
Just like usual Apple style, the HTML5 showcase displaying the feature capability with simple and elegant, even though the demo doesn’t give an impression yet. You can type in text, quickly change font, size, transparency, rotate it and give shadow effect in one of the demo. Meanwhile, you can browse through a horizontal, vertical or grid-shaped gallery of images. The HTML5 by clicking and dragging also give you the capability to spin a 3D object.
From the Apple HTML5 showcase, we can make conclusion that the HTML5 is mature enough for wide adoption without any add-ons requirement. Just like the text on the official site state: “Standards aren’t add-ons to the web. They are the web.” But something missing from the showcase is that one could make a similar showcase in Flash with more advanced effects, which HTML5 and CSS3 out of reach.
